An 18-year-old mother has died after she was found on fire in a street in south-west London.

Police and firefighters were called to a level crossing on West Barnes Lane, in Raynes Park, at 01:00 GMT on Sunday.

Scotland Yard said the woman had a young son, who was being looked after by relatives when she died.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said her death was "non-suspicious" but they wanted to speak to three people who had rushed to her aid.

Officers believe the fire started at a residential property in Linkway, a nearby street.

The cause of the fire and circumstances of the death are being investigated by officers in Merton, and by London Fire Brigade.

A post-mortem examination has yet to be arranged.
