ご存じネオアコの大御所、The Dream Academy のベスト＋レアトラック企画盤ですね。
やはりなんと言ってもThe Smiths の超名曲、
Please, Please,Please Let Me Get What I Want の忠実なカバー収録、これです！！
ボクの知るところでは、100 Hits Electric Eighties コンピ集で入手可能なのみです。
既発の日本盤ベストは廃盤状態なので、
今回、新たに収録されたことが実に素晴らしいです。
Real Gone Music というレーベルからのリリースですが、
日本盤のリリースもあるようですし、ファンの期待の大きさが分かりますね。
初CD化のレアトラックも含めての２CDで、これぞネオアコ、癒しの時間が過ごせます。
今回も大満足！！

知ってる曲は「life in northern town」のみ、
私にとっては一発屋だったので、二枚組でベストで大丈夫かと思いましたが全くの杞憂でした。
粒ぞろいの良曲がそろっています。
ゆったりとしていてくつろぎのひと時にピッタリなベストアルバムです。
80年代に「life in northern town」でDream Academyを興味を持ったけどほかの曲聴いたことない人も買って満足な一枚。

le fan de musique que je suis se languissais de ne ppouvoir reecouter ces merveilleuses songs du dream academy sorties il y a plus de 30ans pour les premieres. lorsque j'ai vu qu'il y avait ce double cd retrospectif de ces annees de jeunesse je me suis precipite pour me le procurer

Back in the late 80's and early 90's there was an extraordinary band by the name of The Dream Academy. They were produced by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd and created quite a few memorable hits.....among those The Edge Of Forever (it is in the museum scene from the film) from Ferris Buellers Day Off.....Please Please Please Me Now, Life In A Northern Town, and one of my favorites Gaby Says which unfortunately is not on this album.......The Dream Academy created some really phenomenal music. I am glad to see that a collection of their hits and some rarities has come out to bring this band back into recognition. This double album contains one new track (sunrising recorded this year 2014) from them which has never been heard along with some other tracks which were never available before. Nick Laird Clowes, Kate St. John. and Gilbert Gabriel created some of the finest music during their short ( three albums) time together. Kate St. John's oboe brought magic into many of their creations......A sort of Pop meets classical.......They have been and still are today one of my favorite bands of all time. The Dream Academy is one of those bands whose music will stay with you always! I hope there is a bit more to come in the future from their discography!

Jeder Mensch in Mitteleuropa kennt Dream Academy, auch wenn er / sie es vielleicht gar nicht weiß. Aber in den Mittachzigern lief die Pophymne "Life in a Northern Town" durch sämtliche Diskos und Radios, nur war dies ein fast "One-Hit-Wonder", denn obwohl das Trio Nick Laird-Clowes, Kate St. John und Gilbert Gabriel danach noch zwei gute Scheiben und einen potentiellen Nachfolger "Indian Summer" herausbrachten, wurde es schnell still um die Engländer. Die meisten Fans der Band werden alle erschienenen CDs bereits besitzen, wie auch ich. Wer nicht, sollte sich ernsthaft überlegen, es als Einstieg mit dieser Kompilation zu versuchen. Wer auf melodischen, liebreizenden, gut ins Szenen gesetzten Pop a la Prefab Sprout, Captain oder The Pearlfishers etwas anfangen kann, sollte ebenfalls zulangen.
Aber selbst mir als Fan und Besitzer der besagten Scheiben hat diese Doppel-CD noch sehr gut gefallen. Der Grund sind die Tracks, die ich bisher eben noch nicht hatte. Das sind in meinem Fall dann doch mehr als die 5 bisher unveröffentlichten: "The Demonstration", "Living in a War", "The Chosen Few", "Power to Believe", "The Last Day of the War" und "Sunrising". Mir fehlten bisher auch "Girl in a Million" und "Please please please let me get what I want". Und so bin ich richtig zufrieden mit dieser schönen Zusammenstellung.
Besonders empfehlen würde ich in der Zusammenstellung den ungewöhnlichen Track "The Last Day of the War" aus dem Jahre 1984, wo ich das erste und einzige Mal etwas disharmonische und experimentelle Klänge der Band höre. Der ganze Kauf lohnt sich aber alleine schon wegen des allerletzten Tracks: "Sunrising" aus dem Jahre 2014 (oh, warum habt Ihr nicht gleich eine ganze CD herausgebracht?), der eingängig, simpel aber wunderschön ist. Ich würde mich über noch mehr Neumaterial freune, da weder Kate St. John mit Soloprojekten, die eher lahm und öde klingen, noch Nick Lard-Clowes (trotz eingier Soundtracks und em genialen "Trashmonk") zu annäherndem Erfolg gekommen sind.

Meraviglioso cd. Conosco la band da vent'anni e questa Collection racchiude il meglio del loro lavoro. Contiene inoltre brani inediti e rare b-sides. Ottimo il servizio di Amazon prime. La prima spedizione é arrivata danneggiata ma in meno di due giorni e senza spese mi hanno cambiato il CD senza spese. Servizio 10 e lode!!!!
