Funeral held in Swansea for Bath crash victim Phil Allen

The funeral has taken place for one of the victims of a crash involving a 30-tonne tipper truck in Bath that killed four people.

Phil Allen, 52, from Swansea, died earlier this month when the truck hit the Volvo they were travelling in.

Stephen Vaughan, 34, also from Swansea, and Robert Parker, 59, of Cwmbran, were also killed, along with Mitzi Steady, four, from Bath.

Mr Allen's funeral was held at St Catherine's Church, Gorseinon.

Western Power Distribution executive Mr Allen was married with two children and a grandchild.

Detectives are looking at the aggregate load it was carrying as well as any potential mechanical faults.

The Swansea City fan was in the car along with Mr Parker, driven by chauffer Mr Vaughan, 34, who ran EliteXecutive Travel when the truck careered down Lansdown Lane hitting vehicles and pedestrians.

Two men have been arrested over the crash on 9 February.

A 19-year-old man, believed to be Philip Potter who was driving the truck, is being held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Avon and Somerset Police said the suspect was also questioned on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence, along with a 28-year-old man.

Both were released on bail pending further inquiries, while an investigation into what caused the truck to crash is continuing.
