Loic Remy: Chelsea striker a target for Aston Villa, says Remi Garde

Aston Villa boss Remi Garde will try to sign Chelsea striker Loic Remy on loan in the January transfer window.

"Loic is special. He knows the country and league, and would be an interesting player for the team," Garde said.

But Chelsea caretaker boss Guus Hiddink is unimpressed with Garde making his interest in the player public.

Remy, who joined Chelsea in a £10.5m move from QPR last year, has started only one Premier League game this season after suffering several injuries, scoring twice in the League Cup and once in the league.

"You have to respect where the players are," Hiddink said. "If you are interested, talk first to the people with whom they are contracted. You cannot go into details.

"The player has signed a contract here and must be fit for us. He's having a difficult time regarding his injuries. He has to prove first of all that he's a good Chelsea player. He has had a calf problem for several days."

'We need all our players at the moment'

Remy's compatriot Garde was assistant manager at Lyon when Remy started his career at the Stade de Gerland.

The Villa boss will hope the forward can add goals to a side that has scored just 15 times in 19 league games, the lowest in the division.

But with Chelsea just three points above the relegation zone in 14th place, Hiddink appears in no mood to let players leave.

"We need all the players here until the end of the season," added Hiddink, responding to speculation over the future of Blues midfielder Cesc Fabregas, a reported target for Italian clubs Juventus and Inter Milan.

"Chelsea are still in a position where we have to improve to get up the table, so we need all our players at the moment. So we don't talk about the rumours.

"Cesc is coming in with a smile, which is what I always like. Players come in with a smile and not a worn-out face."
