- Highs One of the most beautiful designs in autodom, dramatic exhaust note, delightful driving demeanor.
- Lows Cramped cabin, lunchbox-size cargo hold, it's going away forever.
- Verdict The F-Type's lovely looks and operatic V-8 engines will be missed when the sexy sports car exits the market at the end of the 2024 model year.
Overview
The 2024 Jaguar F-type is the pretty face of the sports car segment but it doesn't hold back on performance. Its supercharged V-8 sings a sexy melody and its handling is plenty good enough to entertain enthusiast drivers—though it's softer around the edges than the best of its rivals, the Chevrolet Corvette or the Porsche 718 Cayman. Its cabin is snug and lined with quality materials but its design and features haven't been updated in a while. Convertible models come with a power-operated soft-top that tucks neatly in the trunk—top-down it's gorgeous—but the coupe is beautiful too, and its additional cargo space is more practical. Either way, the F-type is one of the best-looking sports cars, handsome enough to dress up any driveway and aggressive enough to make driving a joy.

Sadly, Jaguar has announced that the final model year for the F-type will be 2024, which coincides with the brand's 75th birthday. To celebrate that corporate milestone and to send off the F-type in style, two special editions, named 75 and R 75, will be available. Both will be offered as a coupe or a convertible, but the R 75 will be the only option for those interested in the more powerful of the F-type's powertrains—a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 making 575 horsepower. All of them will come with all-wheel drive standard, but if you're into the rear-wheel drive configuration the entry-level R-Dynamic P450 is still offered. The 75 and R 75 models are differentiated from the R-Dynamic ones with special badging inside and out, unique 20-inch wheel designs, and an exclusive available Giola Green exterior color.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2024 Jaguar F-Type starts at $79,175 and goes up to $116,275 depending on the trim and options.
Although the F-type's 575-hp V-8 engine is tempting, the P450's V-8 sounds about as good and still offers plenty of grunt. The stylish coupe is our pick of the lineup, but the convertible offers that quintessential sun-on-your-head experience if that's more your vibe. A wide range of colors and interior trims are available but make ours British Racing Green with tan leather.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
While many sports cars have transitioned to downsized turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines, Jaguar has taken the opposite approach and now offers the F-type only with an old-school supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. It makes 444 horsepower in P450 form and 575 horsepower in the high-performance R P575 configuration. Both versions offer an exceptional auditory experience with plenty of snaps, crackles, and pops coming from the exhaust. The F-type's driving experience is engaging, with good steering and a relatively comfortable ride, but its responses are not as sharp as more hard-core sports car rivals if you intend to take it to the racetrack or on spirited backroad romps.
0–60-MPH Times
In our testing, the F-Type convertible impressed with a 0–60 mph time of 4.0 seconds flat while the F-type R went from 0–60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The convertible R75 model managed a 3.4-second run to 60 mph. That's quick, but not as quick as a comparable Corvette or Porsche 718.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The 575-hp, all-wheel-drive F-type R is rated at 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway and the less powerful P450 earned ratings of 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. We ran an R coupe on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen, and it exceeded expectations by returning 27 mpg; the P450 convertible delivered a 28-mpg result and the R75 convertible managed 23 mpg. For more information about the F-type's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The 2024 F-type's cockpit has a driver-centric design and features an interesting mix of materials including stitching, faux-suede accents, and chrome trim. There are also different options for nicer headliners, center-console trims, and various gloss-black pieces. The standard six-way power sport seats can be upgraded to 12-way power performance seats with various leather or suede upholstery combinations. Neither the coupe nor the convertible offer much space inside for the driver and passenger, and the convertible's trunk is laughably small.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Every F-type features a 10.0-inch touchscreen that runs the company's InControl Touch Pro infotainment software. The system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability as standard. A premium surround-sound audio system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless phone charging are all optional.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
The F-type comes standard with many driver-assistance technologies, but blind-spot monitoring is a standalone option that we'd recommend. For more information about the F-type's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:
- Standard forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking
- Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
- Available blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Jaguar provides competitive limited and powertrain warranties that align with luxury alternatives from Audi and BMW. However, the British automaker one-ups both rivals with its industry-leading complimentary scheduled maintenance coverage.
- Limited warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
- Complimentary maintenance is covered for five years or 60,000 miles
