Essential New Live Document for Heart Mongers!

Heart has always been a terrific live act and this new CD/DVD set is a fantastic addition to their collection. Ann and Nancy are still both in their element and they have a great live band backing them up. This Fanatic Live show offers plenty of cool arrangements and interesting performance ideas to keep things fresh. I was intrigued to see the addition of a live string section on some songs and they add a great element and richness of sound. Several songs are performed with new arrangements--most obviously on "Dog and Butterfly," which gets a whispery new keyboard riff. It works and it's a nice change of pace for a classic Heart song. "Alone" is also done in a stripped down setting--you won't find any crashing drum breaks on it, but Ann gives a spectacular and heart-rending vocal.

It goes without saying that Ann still has amazing vocal prowess. She doesn't have quite the upper range she had back in the '70s, but her voice is still transcendent and she gives such passionate, cathartic vocals every time. Nancy is a gifted rhythm guitar player and still does all her classic moves. She's great fun to watch! Her opening acoustic section for "Crazy on You" features heavy improv and she really cooks on this particular evening. Both Wilson sisters still look gorgeous. Can you believe Ann turns 64 this year?? I can't! She looks beautiful.

I've never been one who believes any new songs performed by classic bands are "bathroom break" tracks in between the classic hits. I'd actually say that the multiple songs the band performs from their latest "Fanatic" album are the highlights of the show. Fanatic is a very strong release and the Wilson sisters are obviously proud of the material. Songs like Fanatic, Dear Old America, Walkin' Good, 59 Crunch and Mashallah sound SUPERB in a live setting. These are some crunchy, riff heavy songs and all (except the acoustic Walkin' Good) are among the hardest rocking songs the band has ever recorded. Ann and Nancy have passion and enthusiasm for the new material, turning every new song into a highlight. I'd rather see Ann belt out Mashallah with intensity than watch another version of Even It Up.

That's not to say the classic songs are sub par. They aren't. The whole show is a joy to watch and, rest assured "Magic Man" fans…it may not be in the track listing but it's available as a bonus performance on the DVD. Overall, this is an awesome release and another treat for us Heart Mongers! The last few years have been great for Ann and Nancy and I can't wait to see where they go from here!

I was at this sold out show (5000 strong)...3rd row just in front of Ann. What a night! They just get better and better. Raw, passionate and powerful is how they play live when they rock...and they rock! Then, Heart brings the beauty and nimbleness to their softer side that hypnotizes the audience. This show was a perfect example of their musical duality: fierce and fine. Ann's voice is off the charts on Heartless where she just roars. Mashallah—a new track from Fanatic—is mystical and stunning as Ann climbs her vocal register to the soaring title. Of course she is stratospheric on Barracuda and Crazy on You, and Alone is, as always, breathtaking. Ann & Nancy's harmonies are beautiful whether on the rockers or the ballads. Ben Mink leads a string section that adds a whole layer of sweetness and emotional texture on several classics and new tracks. Heart is an epic rock band in the pantheon on the Stones and Zeppelin. This is just another example of their musical might and mastery. Oh, and in case you are wondering what happened to Magic Man...it's the bonus track on the DVD. Enjoy!

Ever since the release date for this CD+DVD SET was announced I have eagerly awaited its arrival. Well worth the wait. Delivery was excellent, very quick.

I have only recently rediscovered my love for HEART thanks to You Tube. I was a big fan from the mid-80s to early 90s, but I admit my musical knowledge of the band was limited to just that era of their huge catalogue of music. Since stumbling upon some of the 80s videos on you tube I have been absolutely hooked. Over the past couple of months I've been on a musical journey with Heart, watching and listening obsessively. I love all the older classics and the newer stuff is just wonderful too.

This Live CD is a great addition to my ever growing collection. The new tracks sound great live, and the overall production is top quality. I have recently bought all the DVDs. "Alive in Seattle" is amazing but "Fanatic Live" is definitely my favourite. Picture and sound quality are excellent. This concert from Ceasers Colosseum, shot and edited beautifully, captures Heart at their rockin' best on the big stage.

All 15 DVD tracks (14 on CD) are Brilliant. There are truly outstanding performances of "Fanatic", "What About Love", "Even It Up", "Mashalla", "Heartless", "59 Crunch", "Dog & Butterfly", "Straight On", "Alone", "Barracuda" and "Magic Man" (Which was edited out for the TV screening of the show, but thankfully included on the DVD as the bonus feature which was a lovely surprise).

The whole band are on top form here. The inclusion of a string section on several songs works really well. The Wilson sisters are totally awesome, 2 Rock goddesses. Nancy, besides being sizzling hot on guitar and looking WOW, delivers beautiful vocals on "Walkin' Good" & "These Dreams" as well as harmonising perfectly on a number of other tracks. Ann, looking absolutely stunning, is just sensational (As always). Nobody gives me goose bumps like Dreamboat Annie. Her voice is unique, so powerful, passionate and sexy, possessing such an astounding vocal range that will blow you away!!

Please keep the DVDs coming Ladies. It would be great to have one of this years major shows (Featuring the Led Zeppelin Experience with Jason Bonham) filmed for a blu ray release. Hopefully a UK Tour is in the planning, please come to Scotland soon!! I would love to see you live.

This CD and DVD will certainly appeal to all fans, anybody who loves great Rock Music, those who appreciate a band who can deliver a stunning live show OR JUST BUY IT to hear the AMAZING ANN WILSON!!!
