It is not exactly a secret that Xiaomi is China’s number one smartphone OEM and 3rd o 4th smartphone vendor globally. This Chinese smartphone manufacturer has come a long way this year and they expect 2015 to be even more successful. China is Xiaomi’s main market, by far, but the company is also doing great in India, despite the partial sales ban which is active at the moment. Xiaomi will solve those issues with Ericsson and will continue doing business in India as usual.

Head of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain, has announced via his Twitter profile that the company has sold over 1 million smartphones in the Indian market, they crossed that threshold this month. Keep in mind that Xiaomi has been active in India for only about 5 or 6 months, so that’s not exactly a long time. Manu Kumar Jain did not reveal any specifics when it comes to sales, we didn’t get any details on which smartphone sold the most and in how many copies, though it is safe to assume the Redmi 1S is far ahead considering all the “Flash Sales” Xiaomi held via Flipkart and the sheer amount of those handsets they were able to sell in a very short period of time. Xiaomi Mi3 and Redmi Note have also been available at some point this year.

Xiaomi is currently allowed to sell only Qualcomm-powered devices in India as part of the sales ban following Ericsson’s lawsuit. Xiaomi will soon face a complete sales ban (early January) and the hearing is set for February, when these two companies will hopefully resolve every issue at hand and Xiaomi will be allowed to sell their devices in India once again. Xiaomi is also planning all sorts of expansions in 2015, including the one to India. They are currently selling their handsets via Indian reseller Flipkart, but the company intends to open up their offices there and sell devices officially in India, which would allow them to make a bigger impression in the Indian market and sell a whole lot more devices at the same time. 2015 will be an interesting year for the company, that’s for sure.
