Missy Elliott Goes Top 10 After Super Bowl Performance
Missy Elliott ruled the Super Bowl, and now the charts. The hip-hop icon has surged back into the top 10 following her show-stealing set during Katy Perry’s halftime spectacular on Sunday.
The 12-minute performance at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. became the most-watched and highest-rated Super Bowl halftime show in history.
Millions—118.5 to be exact—tuned in to watch Missy perform a medley of her hits including “Get Ur Freak On,” “Work It,” and “Lose Control.”
All three songs currently hold spots in the top 10 on iTunes. According to Billboard, her catalog could gain 1,000 percent in sales with 70,000-plus downloads sold. That would be up from 6,000 in the week prior. “Work It” appears to be the hottest seller with 20,000 downloads.
