Five rescued from Newry flats fire

Five people have been rescued from a fire at a set of flats in Newry, County Down.
It broke out at about 18:30 GMT on Thursday at St Mary's Street.
Group Commander Edward Carroll from the fire service said firefighters wearing breathing apparatus carried out the rescue.
Some people had been able to leave the building when the blaze broke out. No-one was seriously injured.
Two people were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
It is understood the fire broke out in a mid-terrace house that had been converted into flats.
"Were it not for the prompt valiant action of the firefighters, there would have been a different outcome," Group Commander Carroll said.
