A man has been injured after a suspected gas explosion badly damaged a home in Greater Manchester.

Firefighters were called to High Street, Heywood, at about 20:00 BST and found the gable end of the building had collapsed and brought the roof down.

Crews and a rescue dog searched the rubble inside the property and pulled the man free. The extent of his injuries is currently unclear.

An investigation into the cause of the blast is now under way.
