Editor's note: The Bouyei people, who live in Changshun County in southwest China's Guizhou Province, are best known for their embroidery and brocade. Almost every Bouyei woman is adept at producing designs like figures, flowers, birds, insects and animals. Bouyei girls always regard their exquisite handmade works such as clothes, baby carrier cloth (the cloth used to carry a child on the back), girdle, bed curtain, bedcover, pillowcase, scarves, pouches, embroidered shoes and handkerchiefs as beloved gifts and treasures.
