A paraglider has died after falling to the ground in a Peak District field on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the incident happened on Friday afternoon in Hollingsclough, near Buxton.

He was initially given CPR by members of the public and later by paramedics attending the scene.

The spokeswoman added: "Sadly, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead a short time later."
