'They are loving what they currently have': Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin 'on the road to a happy reconciliation' several months after split

With their relationship appearing to be as close as ever since they announced the end of their 11-year marriage, it was only a matter of time before speculation would begin about a reconciliation.

According to the Sunday People, sources close to Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin now claim that the couple, who announced their split in March, are on the road to patching up their romance.

'Despite being very different beasts, Chris and Gwyneth adore one another. I suppose it's a case of they can't live without one another,' a source close to the couple is quoted as saying.

'Talk of officially ending their marriage is not even on the agenda. Lawyers haven't been introduced yet. The chances of there being a happy reconciliation are very high.

'The split released a lot of pressure from the intense relationship but they are still very close. They look back and enjoy what they did have and are loving what they currently have.'

The news comes days after it was revealed that Chris had split with Jennifer Lawrence following a two-month romance.

And on Thursday night, the Oscar-winning actress spent two hours at Chris's Malibu home, collecting her belongings and talking with the Coldplay star.

A source close to the actress told MailOnline: 'Jennifer went over to Chris's to apologise for the coverage of their breakup being so one-sided, reclaim her possessions and to ensure there were no hard feelings.'

The source insisted that Jennifer is now happily single, adding: 'They're not getting back together.'

The night before, Chris made his first public performance since his split with Jennifer, when he served as a surprise performer at the AmfAR gala in Los Angeles.

Gwyneth hosted the event and kicked off the night by bringing Martin and his bandmate Jonny Buckland on stage to perform the band’s hit songs Paradise and Viva La Vida.

'This brilliant singer-songwriter has sold 8 million records,’ Paltrow said. ‘[He] has won every single award that there is to be won, especially Father of the Year, which he has won consecutively since 2004.’

‘I am speaking of Chris Martin,’ she clarified according to People, ‘and the incredibly talented Jonny Buckland, who together make up one-half of the legendary band Coldplay.’

On Tuesday, Chris was spotted on a family dinner at a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles with his estranged wife, who was seen tenderly stroking his face.

That same night, a glum Jennifer was pictured elsewhere in in the city having dinner with a friend.

A source told MailOnline: 'Jen got tired of watching Chris play happy families with Gwyn and was annoyed that he was trying to keep her hidden away.'

The 'consciously uncoupled' pair - who have two children together, daughter Apple and son Moses - have been spotted together on several occasions since their split in March this year.

When contacted by MailOnline, representative for Chris Martin declined to comment. MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for Gwyneth Paltrow for comment.
