他の方もおっしゃっているように、他のバンドにもよくある話だとは思いますが、レコード会社移籍等に伴ってなのか、他の理由なのか、マスターテープの扱いがぞんざいな感じがしていて、過去のリイシューでも、明らかにアナログ盤からのおこしくさいものが多かった中で、このCDは別格で音が良いです。良いんです、が...。

　実は、2 in 1の後者の元LPには"La Belle Jeane"の別バージョンが入っていて（別テイクではありません。曲を編集して、楽器を加えているものです）、この初CD化を、それこそこの２ヶ月ほど、ずーっと期待していたのに、ここに収録されているのはイギリスのオリジナルバージョンなんです（前者の"Be My Baby""Summer Love sensation"については、無事、アメリカバージョンですが）。あちゃー、って感じです（苦笑）。

　という理由で、「音質は５、でも残念賞で３」という星が付けられたらいいのですけど。妥協して星４にしておきます。ご購入の方は、そこを承知でどうぞ。

初期の魅力を知るに十分な好編集盤

ローラーズの再発ＣＤはＢＥＳＴやオリジナル・リイシューなど、国内盤、輸入盤結構出るたびに買いました。で、今回も「米編集盤だ」と思い買ってしまったのですが、この２in１って結構良い内容なんですよね。最初の１枚は当時日本でも出ていたベスト盤ですが（個人的に中学２年の時初めて買ったローラーズのＬＰ）、「サマーラブ・センセーション（太陽の中の恋）」は日本盤と違ってストリングス入りバージョン。後者「ロックンロール・ラブレター」は米国の編集で「マネーハニー」やタイトル曲が入っていて、中学当時、英国オリジナルに沿った国内盤よりも、（輸入盤なんて手に入らないものの）この米盤の方が曲が良いみたいだと噂になったこともあったもの。長くなりましたが、ベストの方は良い曲がちゃんと入っていて、後者はシングルもうまく入れながら、ローラーズが単なるアイドルグループではなく重量級パワーポップ・バンドであることをうまく表現した内容になっているということ。そして、全体的に音質が良いのです。この２枚の米国マスターの保存が良かったのか？「ロックンロール・ラブレター」なんかは、ずいぶん前にARISTAから出たリマスターのベストものより音が広がる感じで、ガッツのある音でした。

I have these albums on vinyl, but it nice to now have them on CD. While I do still have a turntable, it's nice to be able to take a copy of some of my favorite music anywhere I go in a digital format. Obviously, the songs on the first album are, well, a bit sophomoric, but on "Rock 'N Roll Love Letter," while not necessarily being brillian, with songs like "Eagles Fly," you can see where the Faulkner/Woods songwriting was beginning to come around and maturing, which songwriting team will yield more impressive results on later albums. Still, the two albums are a fun duo and bring back a lot of memories.

I remember watching the Bay City Rollers on Saturday Morning as a girl. I didn't think you would have any of there Albums on here until I looked for them. Really happy with my purchase I have been playing it my car on the way to work and it really brings back a lot of happy memories of me as a girl with my sister on Saturday morning. Thanks

I have these LPs from the 70s and the CDs are not quite the same. Although advertised as the U.S. albums these songs are the UK mixes from Rollin', Once Upon A Star, and Wouldn't You Like It? I was hoping to hear the extra instruments on La Belle Jeanne that appear on the U.S. version. The mix on Be My Baby is also the UK mix not the US mix. The US mix doesn't contain the piano chords at the beginning of the song but rather jumps right in with the opening chords. Having said all that, It's still a great CD containing 2 albums on one disc but if you already have the first 3 BCR UK CDs you're not getting anything here that you don't already have. I'd really like to see the alternate versions of these songs released someday.
