NEW DELHI: Indian handset brand Micromax is gearing up to launch a new entry-level Android smartphone that will offer features rivalling premium budget phones from Xiaomi, Motorola and Lenovo.
According to industry sources, Micromax's new phone is an entry-level device phone is likely to be priced below Rs 6,000 and sold via flash sale model on Snapdeal most likely starting last week of April.
The phone will sport a screen that will measure between 4.3- to 5-inch and be powered by a quad core processor. Other details are not known at the moment.
During a Twitter chat with Snapdeal, Micromax disclosed that the company will be launching a new smartphone for which it would need the online marketplace's help. However, it did not elaborate on the features or positioning of the phone.
Micromax already offers the Unite 2 which comes with a quad-core processor, a 4.7-inch IPS display, and a 5MP rear camera with LED and a 2MP front camera for video chats and selfies. The phone was launched at Rs 6,999 to rival the likes of the Moto E. It also offers the Canvas A1 Android One smartphone which has similar specifications but Stock Android and assured updates from Google.
