Sun, sea, sand and surf - the four words certain to bring a smile to any holidaymaker’s face.
So it's no surprise that beaches are some of the most popular holiday destinations for those looking to recharge their batteries.
After all, there is nothing better than the feel of a gentle summer breeze against bare skin, the sound of waves gently lapping against the shore or the cries of a lone seagull as it scans the air in search of a fishy snack.
But on these beaches, those sights and sounds are as rare as finding a secluded spot to lay down a towel.
Their stunning views, sandy stretches and turquoise waters make them such a huge draw that tens of thousands of tourists descend at peak times in search of an unforgettable break by the seaside.
A visitor to China's Huiquan Bathing Beach, which sees over 200,000 tourists at peak times, will find it a struggle to take a leisurely stroll on the sand, let alone spread out a towel.
And spare a thought for sun-worshipers at Durres, Albania, which hosts nearly 700,000 visitors a year. The country's most popular, and most visited beach attracts sunbathers from neighbouring Macedonia and Kosovo as well as it's own beach-loving population.
And even Britain's Bournemouth Beach, with its seven miles of golden sands, gets a jaw-dropping estimated 3.5million visitors during the peak summer months.
