Lotus says it is on track to sell 2,000 cars this year and plans to continue scaling its business up by growing its dealer network and offering more variants of its current product portfolio. in the next nine months.

CEO Jean-Marc Gales doesn’t plan to stop there, telling AutoCar that the company’s core values don’t need to be specifically tied to sports cars. Instead, he said the possibility of a crossover and sedan are still very much on the table.

If those products come to be, it will likely happen in the next decade. While plans for more conventional products from the company don’t seem certain, one thing is for sure: Lotus plans to continue sourcing engines from Toyota. Following the nine-month period of new model variants, the company is planning to offer even more versions as well.

During the 2010 Paris Motor Show, former CEO Dany Bahar surprised the auto industry with five concept cars and an aggressive plan to put them into production. Bahar was later fired from Lotus, but Gales seems to have been putting plans in place for more practical models nonetheless.
