This is the dramatic moment a soldier was blown into the air before being thrown to the ground by strong winds that lifted the national flag he was holding.
The incident took place during a military ceremony in Durango, north of Mexico City, which involved members of the armed forces parading a large Mexican flag.
A strong gust of wind lifted the flag into the air and as everyone else let go, a lone soldier was carried into the sky.

Members of the armed forces, including a brass band on the parade, attempted to assist the man before he was lifted any higher.
Captured on video is the moment immediately after the soldier is lifted into the air as the large flag billows in the wind.
He holds onto the corner of it for dear life – his legs can be seen flailing – as it begins twisting before throwing him to the ground with a thud.
A number of military personnel then run to his location to check him over for injuries while others grab hold of the flag in an attempt to control it.

Fortunately, the man was not reported to have sustained any serious injuries despite the height in which he fell from.
According to local reports, this is the second incident to have taken place in Durango since the flagpole was inaugurated at the beginning of April.
