Soul surfer! Justin Bieber enjoys evening out at Hollywood nightclub with spiritual mentor Joel Houston

After videos surfaced of a young, bowl-cutted Justin Bieber making racist remarks, the pop music icon turned to his faith for reconciliation.

The singer looked to Hillsong, a mega-church out of Australia formed by members of the Christian rock group Hillsong United.

And on Friday, as the Biebs and his pastor, Joel Houston, left Hyde nightclub in Hollywood, the Baby singer shied from the cameras and let his spiritual mentor take the spotlight.

TMZ acquired video of the two as they waited outside the nightclub for their ride to arrive.

Earlier in the evening, Bieber was seen entering The Nice Guy bar in Los Angeles, where he wore the same outfit as in the video but with a different undershirt.

The video shows Justin clad in a round-brimmed hat, a crisp white tee and a flannel.

He stood beside Pastor Houston, who wore a simple white t-shirt and a dangling gold necklace.

The cameraman first prodded the Biebs about Hillsong United's new gospel rock album, Empires, and the pop singer nearly kissed the camera and said: 'Hey check it out dad.'

But the Boyfriend singer pulled away and told Houston to explain the album.

'Just give us a little synopsis of what Empires means to you,' said Bieber. 'What was your inspiration?'

After another friend and Bieber physically nudge Houston to speak, the Pastor conceded: 'You really wanna know?'

'The people out there,' said Houston.

'So your fans?' asked the cameraman.

To which Houston retorts, 'No, you right there. Yeah in the Dodgers hat,' pointing to the cameraman.

From then on, the Pastor and the cameraman start to have a moment.

'What do you like to do in your off-time for fun?' asked the videographer.

'Well, if I was in Australia - which is where I'm from - I'd surf,' said Houston.

'I'm a surfer too!' the cameraman responded.

'Oh for real?'

'Yeah I teach surfing here in the states,' said the TMZ photographer. 'It's been about a year and a half because I've been doing this stuff and I have kids.'

'Hey man, it's tough to ride a surfboard and hold a camera at the same time.'

After the bro-to-bro moment, Bieber and his other accomplice came back into frame and broke up the oceanic bond.

'Hey guys I'm talking to Joel at this point,' the cameraman butted in.

And Bieber responded: 'Really? You're over me?'

'It's not like that but we were having like an intimate situation here,' said the videographer.

Then it was time for Bieber, Houston and crew to leave but the pastor shook hands with the cameraman and said: 'God bless you all. Hopefully we can get a wave one day!'
