Panel to finalise list of over-the-counter drugs for sale at general stores
A three-member committee of gynecologists has been formed to finalize a list of over-the-counter (OTC) drugs that will be available in regular stores without the need for a prescription. The committee, chaired by Directorate General of Health Services Atul Goel, aims to complete the list within two weeks. This move is part of India's new OTC policy for drugs, which seeks to reduce treatment costs and promote self-care while ensuring safety. The list will be based on factors such as safety, availability, and non-habit-forming nature of the drugs.

The Central government has released guidelines for hospitals to determine if a patient needs to be treated in an intensive care unit (ICU). The guidelines, developed by a committee of 24 eminent physicians with specializations in critical care medicine, list medical issues such as altered consciousness, significant intraoperative complications, expected worsening conditions, and severe acute illnesses requiring extensive monitoring.

India sees 260 new COVID cases; Karnataka issues vigilance advisory in border districts
India has recorded 288 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases have increased to 1,970, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. The death toll was recorded at 5,33,318, the data updated at 8 am showed. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has increased to 4,44,70,076, and the national recovery rate stands at 98.81 per cent, according to the health ministry's website.
