Nine men on a stag-do were plucked from mudflats after grounding their rented cruiser in a lake in Norfolk.

The boat had strayed from the deep channel on Breydon Water, a lake linked to the sea at Great Yarmouth.

Three RNLI lifeboats took five hours to reach and rescue the men from the remote mudbank.

Cruiser owner Langford Jillings, from Alpha Craft, said it might be weeks before the craft could be recovered and refloated.

"It may be these boys wanted to explore and ended up on a remote mud bank," Mr Jillings said

"Even the lifeboat had trouble reaching them."

He said he is now reconsidering accepting bookings from all-male groups.

Rescue vessels were sent from the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston RNLI station.
