Xiaomi is holding an India event on April 23 where CEO and founder Lei Jun; president and co-founder Bin Lin and VP International Hugo Barra will be speaking. The event which has a teaser titled ‘i is coming’ will take place in Delhi and Xiaomi has opened it up for fans as well.
Now ahead of the launch event, a website called MyDrivers had put up specs of the new Xiaomi smartphone which will be released. The smartphone is apparently named Xiaomi Mi 4i, thus answering the ‘i’ that Xiaomi says will be coming.
The report says the Mi 4i will have a 1.65GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor, 2GB of RAM, and run on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out-of-the-box.
Xiaomi, which is currently the world’s most valued start-up, has made quite a splash in India. The company had recently launched the Mi 4 (16 GB and 64 GB) version in India. While earlier Xiaomi smartphones were only available on Flipkart, it recently announced a tie-up with The Mobile Store and now the phones are available in these stores as well.
While it’s not clear what Xiaomi will launch in India, if the new phone is just another version of the Mi 4, the fans are sure to be disappointed.
