Jane and Will join the high school were the rest of the party goes and the gang is back together, it's just like it once was...or is it? Will still can't help but feel his heart melt whenever he sees his old friend Mike. They have been apart for so long, they almost feel like strangers. They have to build there friendship back up and with awkward banter, long talks and breaking into school, they are able to do so. But this time, the friendship is different, there's something more. Could it be that the feelings Will have surpressed for so long are...mutual? That sounds nice I know, but with homophobic parents and peers and the difficult, internal feelings these poor teenage boys deal with, it will not be easy.
ALSO: I listened to smoke singals by Phoebe Bridgers the majority of the time while writing this (hence the title) so I would recommend something angsty like that to make the hurt more hurtful!:) ok thx<3

Eda has an idea and King is nervous about it. Raine can teach them to use music as an outlet for his problems and it can be a bonding opportunity. The only problem is, King barely knows Raine and its awkward to meet who is presumably a step-parent figure.
