Police officers were called to a Texas airport to restore order after four British tourists became disruptive on a transatlantic flight.

Officers said the holidaymakers had been drinking and became unruly on the nine-hour journey from London Heathrow to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

Passengers who were on board flight UAL96 told Houston media that officers boarded the Boeing 787 Dreamliner after it arrived at its gate and removed the Britons.

Police questioned the British tourists and then allowed them to go on their way without any criminal charges, reported ABC 13.

It was reported that the passengers who caused the disturbance ‘started drinking and didn’t stop’.

This caused other travellers to complain to flight attendants before the plane landed on time yesterday afternoon.

It was not known if Houston was the Britons’ final destination or if they had to catch a connecting flight.

In the other incident an easyJet flight from Liverpool to Naples was forced to divert to an airport in France due to a disruptive passenger.
