Wimbledon 2015: What not to miss on day one at SW19

The 2015 Wimbledon Championships get under way at the All England Club on Monday.

The grounds open at 10:30 BST with the action starting on the outside courts at 11:30 BST, and 13:00 BST on Centre Court and Court One.

Novak Djokovic starts the defence of his men's singles crown while Petra Kvitova - looking to win back-to-back ladies' titles - has to wait until Tuesday to begin her challenge.

Djokovic may have had his bid for a career grand slam thwarted by an inspired Stan Wawrinka at the French Open, but that is sure only to inspire him further to retain his Wimbledon title.

As the defending champion, he gets proceedings underway on Centre Court where he faces a tricky match against Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber.

The 28-year-old Serb has not played a competitive match since Roland Garros and any rustiness will be punished by an opponent, who at 33 in the world, is the hardest draw rankings wise that Djokovic could have got.

There is a Dad's Army clash on court two as 34 year-old Lleyton Hewitt begins what is his last Wimbledon. The 2002 champion plays another veteran in Finn Jarko Nieminen, 33, in his opener, with the victor set to face Djokovic in round two.

There are 10 British players in the draw for the first round at this year's championships and four of them are in action on day one.

Andy Murray begins his quest for a second title at SW19 on Tuesday so British focus will be on Johanna Konta's match with 2004 champion Maria Sharapova.

The Australian-born, British number two beat two top-20 players to reach the quarter-finals at Eastbourne last week, but mighty Maria could prove to be a different proposition.

Heather Watson has only ever won three singles matches at Wimbledon and she will need to up her game as she takes on 32nd seed Caroline Garcia of France.

The Broady siblings received wildcards - Naomi faces Mariana Duque-Marino of Colombia while her brother Liam takes on Marinko Matosevic of Australia.
