This is the jaw-dropping moment a group of fearless tourists jumped into the water to swim with a crocodile in Cuba.

One of the astonishing holiday snaps shows Franz Pramendorfer, from Austria, reaching out and touching the reptile’s tail, while other photos show up-close views of its razor-sharp teeth.

Franz and his sons – Frank, 18, and Peter, 16 – and their friend, Johannes, swam with the fearsome predator while holidaying on the Caribbean island.

It seems like a death wish, but the group managed to walk away unscathed after their dip with the ‘small’ crocodile.

Franz spotted the 8ft animal from a tour boat at Cuba's Jardines de la Reina archipelago and decided to dive in for a closer look.

He began shooting footage on his camera while the others, including his wife, watched from the boat.

Franz said: ‘The guide said it was OK to snorkel with the crocodile because it was small, so I got in and after 10 minutes my son Frank joined me.

‘My wife could not hold him on board - and my son Peter and his friend Johannes also got in the water.’

Franz’s footage shows the crocodile calmly swimming in front of the group and flashing his teeth for the camera.

At one point the curious animal swims over to the boat, giving the other tourists a chance to snap pictures from a safer vantage point.

Franz said: ‘I didn't plan to get so close to it, but there was a current and the crocodile came up close while I had my back on the boat.

‘At one point my camera was three centimetres into its mouth.’
