Is it possible for a post-rock-era album to be this astoundingly great? Possible for it to be almost as good as the perfect _Teen Dream_? Apparently it is possible. This album boggles the mind.

the thing about beach house is that there one of those things that when I hear it, I cant put any image or face with it. I mean that to me, the sound that comes off this recording, which is called "thank your lucky stars" offers no clues as to what the makers of this music might look like, or act like. its like one of those "jon and vangellis" recordings, or apex twin, or even early sonic youth. theres quite a large list when I think about it. when I see any of these amazing people performing, I cant connect what I see with what I hear. one thing that ive noticed is that the further back in time there are more of this kind of thing, frank Sinatra, billie halliday, les paul, brian eno. no matter what they do, whether its playing some instrumental or singing, or both, the work just seems to exist outside the people. I guess this is a lot to say about ones own perception, but that's so rare these days. video free music. at least I don't watch them. good music is at such a disadvantage now because the really good stuff like this, cant be anything else. no explosions no interactions, absolutely no bonus goodies. I cant imagine beach house being able to keep this level of creativity up mutch longer. I wont get into any song favourites or meanings because who the hell really knows anyway. its enough to say that they keep me coming back for additional listens. no easy feat to accomplish.
