Woman dragged off street and raped in Manchester

A 23-year-old woman returning home from a night out in central Manchester was dragged off the street and raped, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

The woman was attacked near the Great Northern Tower in Watson Street at 03:20 BST on Saturday.

GMP said a man had been arrested in connection with the rape and was released on police bail.

Det Insp Mike Gladwin said: "She has suffered an incomprehensibly distressing experience."

Police believe she was followed along a number of streets before the attack.
