Waiting around for Marshmallow has been tough, but HTC One M9 owners won’t have to wait much longer. Moreover, A9 owners already enjoying Marshmallow will get bumped up to Android 6.0.1, which comes with a slew of new and updated emoji.

In a tweet composed this afternoon, Mo Versi of HTCconfirmed that work to roll out these updates was on-time and that we should expect to start seeing Marshmallow by the end of the month.

HTC One M9 users have been grinding their teeth a little bit ever since Marshmallow started rolling out for the M8 earlier this month. It’s a little strange that the M8 would receive the update before the M9, but HTCmoves in mysterious ways.

Previously, HTCpromised to update the A9’s operating system within fifteen business days of the first Nexus device receiving the update. If the company stays true to this, then we should see Android 6.0.1 on the A9 by December 28th at the latest.

One of the main things to look forward to about Android 6.0.1 is the collection of over two hundred new emoji that we’ll be getting to play with. In addition to adding new faces like a thinking face or an eye-rolling face, old standbys have received some aesthetic polishing to make their meaning a little clearer.
