VAT savings: Airport shops told to reflect discounts in prices

Shops at airports could be forced to pass on VAT savings to passengers travelling outside the European Union, after the government launched an inquiry.

The Treasury has been urging retailers to properly reflect the tax discounts they receive.

It emerged in August that some airside shops had been claiming back VAT, without reducing their prices.
