Danger there for Wawrinka. You wonder if the blister on his finger might be affecting his first serve percentage which dipped alarmingly in the second set and is overall lagging at just 495.

It is swelteringly hot here but still a bit surprising the gaps in the crowds, especially in the President’s Box.

Wawrinka holds as we move into the business end of this set. 

It was a good hold and he does not seem to be bothered too much by those blisters on his fingers. 

It is getting a little bit darker overhead at Roland Garros. There are thunder storms predicted. 

Tsonga holds to love. He has conceded just one point on his serve in this set. We are level again and the crowd are really getting behind their man.

Excellent forehand shot from Tsonga to beat Wawrinka.

But the Swiss hits back and wins the next three points. 

But Tsonga pulls out an extraordinary cross-court backhand to keep the game alive, and it is a shot that is acknowledged by Wawrinka.

But the set stays on serve as Wawrinka takes the next point.  

Wawrinka needs the trainer, so there is a short delay. 

Seems like he may have a blister on the end of his finger. 

We are back and Tsonga is serving and he takes the first two points and then sees out the game with just one point conceded. 

Excellent shot from Tsonga which clips the line and then he follows it up with a smash shot to give him two break points in this game. 

First one is saved by a good volley from Wawrinka. 

The second is saved with a simple forehand. 

Wawrinka saves the game and takes it to nudge ahead in this set. 

Tsonga holds to love and that will please him. 

Pressure back on Wawrinka after that last service game.

Right then, where is your money now?

Wawrinka looked to be cruising to victory and then went flat midway through the set. 

Wawrinka serving first here and he goes 0-30 behind and is again troubled by a double fault. 

A lucky clip of the net and Wawrinka takes his first point of the game. 

But he severs ANOTHER double fault. It cost him last time, will it cost him here? Break point.

Saved. Good shot into the open side of the court from the Swiss.

But he goes long again with his next shot and Tsonga has another chance to break. Chants of 'Tsonga, Tsonga' again ring around the stands. 

Again it is saved and Wawrinka holds. 

Surprising how Wawrinka really went off the boil from the middle of that set.

It could be that Tsonga has been lifted by the stadium filling up and really getting behind him.

He has complained before about feeling let down walking out to a less than full court here for big matches and quite an emotional player.

Had he lost the tiebreak it probably would have been game over but everything to play for now.

Tsonga takes the first point and then Wawrinka goes long. Big cheer from the crowd. 

A lifeless backhand from Wawrinka and Tsonga is 3-0 up. 

Another good service hold from Tsonga and it is 4-0. And again, big forehand and it is now 5-0.

Don't forget Tsonga was a set and 2-4 down in this match and he is on the brink of drawing level at a set all. 

Wawrinka goes long and it is 6-0 to Tsonga. 

Set point for Tsonga and Wawrinka saves the first, but there are still five more. 

There it is! An hour and 39 minutes and Tsonga levels the semi-final at one set all. 

This game is almost a bonus game for Tsonga because he knows he is already in the tie break. 

Ace first up for Wawrinka and then he goes 40-0 up. 

One minor blip but he takes the game and we go into a second set tie break.

Errors from both players at the moment. 

Tsonga finds himself a break point down and saves it with a booming serve down the center of the court. 

Again Tsonga is forced to save a break point and he uses his flat serve to Wawrinka's backhand and saves it with a forehand. 

Tsonga comes to the net and plays a volley and Wawrinka comes smashes the ball past him. 

Five break points saved so far in this game by Tsonga and then goes ahead with an exquisite cross-court forehand.

And this time he sees it out. Big, big game for Tsonga to win. The pressure is back on Wawrinka.  

Wawrinka goes wide with his first point. He has been in a bit of a lull in the last few games. 

Wawrinka fights back to lead the game 40-15 and takes the game to stay in this set. 

Well, well, well. Where did this come from? Suddenly it is Wawrinka who looks like he is having a bit of a wobble and Tsonga takes the game to love.

Now Wawrinka has to serve to stay in this set. Can Tsonga break again and take this second set? 

A rare double fault from Wawrinka and the crowd are really getting behind Tsonga. 

He finds himself 30-40 up after a second double fault in this game and he gets it!

Wawrinka fires a back hands wide and Tsonga is right back in this set

The crowd look happy again as Tsonga holds his serve. 

He also holds his right leg, which might be an indication of why he is struggling today. 

Wawrinka will be delighted with the way this is going. Overlooked perhaps has been the fact that he is well capable of winning this title, regardless what happens with Djokovic and Murray.

Signs that the wind is getting up, which may be the forerunner of the sharp change in weather expected later. Murray does not mind a bit of wind.

There we go, an hour into this match and we see the first clenched fist from Tsonga and the crowd respond. He goes 0-30 up, but is pegged back to 30-30.

Back to business for Wawrinka as he throws down his sixth ace of the match and then takes the next point and the game. 

Minor scare there for Wawrinka, but he came through it. 

The crowd are trying to rally behind Tsonga, but it does not seem to be working. 

It is difficult to know what is wrong with him but it is a different Tsonga to the one we saw on Tuesday against Nishikori. 

He stays on the scoreboard by holding serve. 

Tsonga looks to be mooching around the court, there does not seem to be any energy in him today. 

Wawrinka holds to love in his latest service game and this match is becoming very one sided. 

For the first time today we see Tsonga serve and volley and it works. 

He holds his serve to love and stops a run of three successive games for Tsonga. 

Wawrinka is in total control here. The only thing that looks to stop him here is his own concentration. 

It is just too easy for Wawrinka at the moment. He goes 2-0 up and this match could be over soon. 

Tsonga to serve first in this second set. 

It's nip and tuck in the first game. Tsonga takes the lead and then Wawrinka pegs him back. Good slice shot from Wawrinka to make it 30-30 and then Tsonga finds the next to give Wawrinka a break point. 

But it is saved. Big cheer from the crowd. 

Wawrinka again gets himself into a break point position and this time he takes it. 

Problems here for Tsonga. 

Here we go then, for the first set. 

15-15 and Wawrinka comes to the net to smash the ball past Tsonga. 

The next two points go the way of the Swiss and after 35minutes Wawrinka takes the first set 6-3. 

Tsonga looks subdued and shackled. Are the thoughts of his semi-final defeat here two years ago playing on his mind? 

Change of racket for Tsonga, new balls in play and the Frenchman is serving to stay in the first set. 

Nice backhand from Tsonga and he follows it up with a drop-shot and takes the first point. 

Wawrinka then goes for a lob - but misses and it is 30-0. 

A forehand takes him to within a point of the game. Wawrinka wins his first point of the game but Tsonga wins the next point to force Wawrinka to take the first set on his serve. 

Tsonga looks a little bit shackled in the early stages of this match. He has not engaged with the crowd much. 

30-30 and the crowd are right behind their man, chants of 'Tsonga, Tsonga' ring round the Chatrier court. 

Mistake from Wawrinka gives Tsonga a break point, but an excellent forehand from the Swiss star saves it and he then moves ahead in the game.

Tsonga hits the ball into the net and Wawrinka moves a game away from the first set. 

Tsonga again races into a 40-0 lead on his serve. 

Can he hold on and see out this game? 

Wawrinka pulls it back to 40-15 but Tsonga holds on and takes the next point and the game.

Wawrinka holds his serve to take a commanding 4-1 lead.

The Swiss star is looking in imperious form and this is already shaping up to be a tough afternoon for Tsonga. 

We have our first break of the match. 

Tsonga has quite a flat serve that seems to work for him. 

Tsonga goes 40-0 up but is pegged back to 40-40. The shot to draw him level is a great backhand by Wawrinka. 

Wawrinka manages to get himself ahead in the game and has a break point. Tsonga saves it with a good forehand. But again Wawrinka gets another break point and this time he takes it with an excellent high back hand. 

Two big aces from Wawrinka as he takes his second game to love. 

So far we are on serve and on course for a close match.

Wawrinka is spurred on by a tattoo on his arm with a quote from Irish writer Samuel Beckett which reads: 'Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.'

Tsonga plays a good first service game, he gets his first serve in and then dictates with the forehand.

Wawrinka gets us underway with the first serve and takes the first point with ease. 

Tsonga hits back and levels at 15-15 and he takes the next two points to give him an early break point. The crowd are already playing their part by cheering every point from the Frenchman. 

Wawrinka fights back to 40-40. And the Swiss star saves three break points to take the first game.

Tsonga and Wawrinka walk out and, embarrassingly, the corporate courtside seats are far from full to see Tsonga try and become the first home player since Yannick Noah in 1983 to lift the Coupe Des Mousquetaires.

Wawrinka is clear favourite to me in this, his heavy groundstroking should be too solid for Tsonga, whose backhand is weaker than his forehand.

It is very hot and some extreme weather forecast later for when Andy Murray should be on court with the possibility of high winds, thunder and lightning.

Tsonga was roared on to victory by the French crowd during his win over Nishikori on Tuesday and they could play a part today.

Both players are the same age, 30, but bizarrely never met in the junior tour.

They have met six times on the main tour and have three wins each.

The last was in the Davis Cup in 2014 and Wawrinka came out on top in four sets.

Both players have made their way onto the Philippe Chatrier court and are warming up. 

It is a very hot day in Paris today and Tsonga is wearing a cap to protect himself from the sun. 

Wawrinka has got to this stage by playing far less sets. Just once has he been taken beyond three sets in this tournament.

Wawrinka powered passed Swiss compatriot Roger Federer in straight sets on Tuesday.

While, Tsonga looked to be cruising against Kei Nishikori but was pulled back to two sets all and needed the crowd to help him through in the fifth set.
